Carpet One... More than a CoOp...

    Last updated 1 month ago

Well, we just got back from Houston, TX at our semi-annual Carpet One Convention.  These conventions are great, because not only does Carpet One unveil new products and programs, we also get to network with other flooring dealers from across the country.  In fact, getting to bounce ideas off one another and share Best Practices might be the number one benefit of being a Carpet One member.  The relationships we've developed over the years with other store owners have become an invaluable asset, and we woudn't trade it for the world.

You see, when we first joined Carpet One over 10 years ago, we thought we were just joining a CoOp that would give us buying power and top-notch products.  What we didn't realize at the time is that Carpet One is much more than a buying group... It's a family!

    Giving With a Longterm Purpose

    Last updated 2 months ago

The smell of the potpourri, and the Muzak Christmas music in the gift shop along with the sound of the Salvation Army Santa's bell in the crisp air outside, all tell of the season. It really is the season for giving even if you have long lost belief in the Christ of Christmas. (Though I have not.) I believe we all want to do "good." This year when you consider giving to a charity regardless of your ability to give, stop and think before droping a few coins in a red bucket or even helping provide a meal for some hungry families. Consider what you could give that will last long after you are gone. We all know the adage "Give a man a fish and he will eat today, but teach him to fish and he will eat for a lifetime." Here are a couple things you could consider. Give to Habitat for Humanity (www.habitatsa.org) and help a family get a house that will continue giving to them for years and years. Give to World Vision (www.worldvisiongifts.org) toward the digging of a well in a third world country and that water will literally save lives for a decade. Give to an organization here in downtown San Antonio like Strong Foundation Ministries (www.strongfoundation.org) that provides temporary housing for families but also with that the help they need to get back on their feet and back into a house of their own. Atlas Floors would love to hear what ideas you have for giving with a longterm purpose.

    Veterans Day - 11.11.11

From all of us here at Atlas Floors Carpet One, we'd like to thank all of our amazing veterans and those who are currently serving in the US Armed Forces.  Without the sacrifices made by these selfless individuals, all of our lives would be extremely different.  Let's use today as a reminder to show thanks and support to our military and veterans not just today, but every chance we get.  God Bless America!  Visit San Antonio has posted a list of Veterans Day activities going on around our city.

    Elf Louise Christmas Project

    Last updated 3 months ago

Once again we are a drop off point for the Elf Louise Christmas Project. Drop off your toys at any of our three locations. "What's Elf Louise?" From their website: The project began in 1969 when our founder, Louise Locker, was a student at Trinity University in San Antonio. She found that for many San Antonio families, Christmas just did not exist. Louise began to look for a way to provide a few Christmas presents to some of these children. That first year, with the help of a friend, she collected gifts for children in 13 families. The Elf Louise Christmas Project relies on the help of donations from grass roots San Antonio, and corporations who want to share their blessings at Christmas. People also donate toys, but since we need over 60,000 gifts, we have to purchase many of them. Our current budget is over $316,000. These donations ARE 100% deductible on your taxes!!!

Please stop by one of our locations today, or one of the many other toy drops around the city to support this worthy cause!
